The History…
The island of culebra and culebrita were discover by Christopher Columbus in his second trip in 1493. The first locals were the taino Indians. The ensenada honda bay served as a base for pirates during the beginning of the Spanish commercial trade with the new world.
When the first settlers came in 1880 from our near by islands vieques and puerto rico all taino Indians had disappeared and the biggest obstacle was the majes and mosquitoes. In 1898 spain gave the rigths of Puerto Rico to the united States and in 1901 the first base of the us military forces was establish. By the second world war started the island of culebra was the main base of target for the us naval force until 1975.

How to get…
From San Juan or Ceiba you can travel by airplane with Vieques Air link, these plane rides are no longer than 12 minutes depending of your place of departure. In the way to culebra you will experience the beauty and magic of our beaches and mountains.
From Fajardo you can travel to Culebra by boat is 1 hour and 15 minutes ride in which you will experience all the magic of the Atlantic ocean.
